Austin Turns Four

A little while ago, my son Austin turned four years old.

FOUR!

It really does feel like yesterday that he was born, huge and pink and crying, looking like absolutely nobody from either family but I just loved him infinitely. Nowadays, he follows the McBride side in his looks but as a person he is entirely himself. He is lovely. He is a perfectionist. He is kind and compassionate and impatient. A chatterbox. Gentle. Sensitive. He loves vehicles and when he grows up he wants to be a pilot or a racing car driver.

For his birthday, I had a small party just in the garden. His one true passion in life is Disney Cars and Planes. He had a Lightening McQueen party last year, so for this one I wanted to go with something a little different (in other words, I did not want to attempt a Lightening McQueen shaped cake!) I decided in the end on a Minions theme! I invited a few of our friends to come and play and luckily the weather was great so we stayed in the garden. The kids had lots of fun on Austin's new trampoline, we played pass the parcel and musical statues and Austin blew the candles out on his cake. I can't decide whether it turned out well or a bit of a disaster. 'Rustic' is perhaps the best word to describe it! Here are some photo's that I managed to take on the day.
